Step #1: How to get video off the Camera and Into a Computer

1- Connect a USB cord from the Camera to the Computer.
2-Press USB Connect on your Camera's Viewfinder Screen
3-Go to FILE >LOG AND TRANSER
4-Select the Clips you want and ADD TO QUEUE
5-Once the clips appear in the Browser window, you can close the Log & Transfer Window and disconnect your camera
6-********MAKE SURE YOU FILE, SAVE PROJECT, AND ENSURE YOUR VIDEOS DO NOT GO "OFFLINE"
7- If using a FLIP.... Go DRAG your clips from the FLIP's hard drive onto a file in the desktop, then go to FILE>IMPORT>FILES
8-****DO NOT MOVE OR TRASH THOSE FILES UNTIL YOUR PROJECT IS COMPLETED OR ELSE THEY WILL GO OFFLINE!****
HOW TO BEGIN AN EDIT:
1-Double click on a clip in your Browser, so that it appears in the VIEWER window.
2-Make an In-point and an Out-point on the clip ("I" is IN and "O" is out)
3-Grab from the Gray and drag to the Upper right and select the way you wish to insert it on the timeline. (Insert w/transition, etc).
4-Continue to make these edits, until you've created your project.
HOW TO IMPORT MUSIC FILES INTO A FINAL CUT PROJECT:
1-OPEN UP FINAL CUT
2-GO TO FILE>IMPORT>FILES
3- FIND THE MUSIC FILE YOU WISH TO IMPORT OR FOLDER, IF IT'S AN ENTIRE FOLDER.
4-THIS SHOULD BE EITHER AN MP3 OR AIFF FILE TYPES, HOWEVER, FINAL CUT LIKES AIFF BETTER...
5-**DO NOT MOVE THE ORIGINAL LOCATION FROM THE FIRST IMPORT OR YOUR MEDIA MAY GO OFFLINE**
6-***IF YOU ARE BRINGING IN A MUSIC FILE FROM YOUR FLASH DRIVE, DRAG THE FILE FROM YOUR FLASH ONTO THE DESKTOP BEFORE BRINGING IT INTO FINAL CUT, OTHERWISE IT WILL GO "OFFLINE"***

HOW TO ADD A LOWER THIRD:
1- CLICK on the FONT "A" on the bottom right of the Viewer Window. Select TEXT> Lower 3rd.
2- Go into the TAB on top for CONTROLS and Edit the content.
3-Drag that clip onto the V2, or V3 level over the video you want it to appear over.

1. OPEN UP FINAL CUT AND YOUR PROJECT
2. CLICK ON CLIP WHERE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD THE VOICE OVER TO.
3. GO UP TO "TOOLS" BAR, AND SELECT ADD VOICE OVER
4. MAKE SURE MICROPHONE IS PLUGGED IN AND SELECT THE CORRECT "MICROPHONE INPUT."
5. PRESS THE RED, RECORD BUTTON AND IT'LL COUNT YOU DOWN.
6. ONCE YOU'RE RECORDED YOUR VO SHOULD BE VISIBLE ON THE AUDIO PORTION OF THE TIMELINE, UNDER YOUR SELECTED CLIP.
How to ADD an AUDIO KEYFRAME (or Audio Dissove -Cross Fade)

1. To Add an Audio Keyframe, Double click on the audio track to see Pink Lines, which are your soundwaves.
2. Go to the Little Diamond shaped icon, which is called an AUDIO KEYFRAME, AND add one, then move your playhead a little further away and another one, and repeat one more time so you have 3 audio keyframes on your audio track.
3. Begin to pull the 2nd audio keyframe down, and pull the 3rd down fully to the bottome to complete the fade.
To ADD A CROSS DISSOLVE (OR AUDIO FADE) ON AN EDIT POINT:
1. Click on the EDIT POINT so it's highlighted
2. Then Go up to your EFFECTS TAB> and select AUDIO TRANSITIONS> CROSS FADE (0DB)

Overwrite- REPLACES CLIP ON TIMELINE
SNAPPING-AUTOMATICALLY LINES UP END OF CLIP WITH START OF A NEW CLIP
TRIMMING-Dragging edit points of clip on timeline
Delete/LIFT-Gap is made-to remove the gap, click SHIFT & DELETE TOGETHER
RAZOR BLADE TOOL- Splits a clip where you want to make a cut (remember to go back to arrow afterwards!)
RIPPLE TOOL: USE TO MOVE AN EDIT POINT FORWARD OR BACK FROM INPOINT WITHOUT LEAVING A GAP IN THE SEQUENCE (THIS IS A SINGLE SIDED EDIT)
ROLL TOOL: USE TO MOVE AN EDIT POINT FORWARD OR BACK BUT IT WILL KEEP SEQUENCE LENGTH THE SAME, SO OTHER CLIPS ATTACHED ARE AFFECTED (START EARLIER OR LATER)
SLIP TOOL: USE TO REVEAL A DIFFERENT PORTION OF THE CLIP AND IT WILL KEEP THE DURATION OF THAT CLIP & POSITION OF THAT CLIP THE SAME.
SLIDE TOOL: USE TO MOVE THE EXACT INPOINTS & OUTPOINTS AS SELECTED ON TIMELINE TO A NEW LOCATION... THE ADJACENT CLIPS ARE SHORTENED OR LENGTHENED TO MAKE THE CHANGE ON THE TIMELINE.
TRANSITIONS: GO TO EFFECTS TAB, DRAG TRANSITION TO EDIT POINT-YOU CAN EASILY COPY & PASTE TRANSITION ONTO OTHER EDIT POINTS.
TO CHANGE THE SPEED OF A CLIP: GO TO MODIFY>SPEED> AND CHANGE THE PERCENTAGE OF THE FILE. (OR YOU CAN REVERSE THE VIDEO)
HOW TO CROP OR ROTATE A PICTURE OR VIDEO:
GO TO THE WIREFRAME AND IMAGE ICON AND MAKE SURE IT'S TURNED ON. AND PULL THE BLUE LINES TO ALTER THE SIZE OF THE PICTURE. MAKE SURE "SHOW TITLE SAFE" IS ALSO ON, SO YOU STAY IN THE SCREEN, AND DON'T CROP IT OUTSIDE OF THE SCREEN.
